I just started reading this book, so I cannot say is good to the end. I also didn't know it was so short. So my reason for 5stars is because it is so refreshing. When she meets up with her ex unexpectantly, I just laughed so hard. I have read so many rock star books, but this one was different in a good way.

OK I finished the book. This was written in 2013, but it could easily be a series. The other guys in the band were nice. If their characters were developed way more I'd buy the series. Some people like books where the characters aren't whiney or deeply insecure. In fact at one point she says to him "You stupid, stupid man!" But he was.

Rock Star Ex is a love story with hot rockers who make a groupie heart go pitter patter to the beat of their music. The characters are kind of sweet in the fact they appear to be more mature, stable, and talented individuals who appear to have none of the typical issues in a book about rock bands: the drugs, gratuitous sex, and alcohol, which normally feature so heavily in the standard rock star romance. Jewel Quinlan offers readers a beautiful love story that mimics the age-old adage 'sometimes when you let something go, somehow it makes its way back to you and true love never dies.'

Who knew I’d have so much fun reading this!

The story of a band on tour did not play out the way I had expected and was delivered in a fresh way that kept me flying through the pages. The pacing was great and the tension between the two main characters, who are forced together into super close proximity, is delicious and steamy. If you’ve got a couple of hours I would definitely recommend Rock Star Ex!

“Self Navigation” was co-authored by Aviad Goz and B. Kim Barnes.

Kim Barnes is CEO of Barnes & Conti Associates, Inc., of Berkeley, California, a leadership development firm. In her 35+ years of experience in the fields of leadership and organization development, she has been a frequent speaker at professional conferences and meetings and has published a number of journal articles in the U.S. and abroad. She is primary or co-developer of Barnes & Conti’s programs on influence, negotiation, innovation management, internal consulting, and many other topics.

The second edition of her book, Exercising Influence: A Guide for Making Things Happen at Work, at Home, and in Your Community, was published by Wiley in 2007. A recent business book, co-authored with Beverly Scott, is Consulting on the Inside: A Practical Guide for Internal Consultants, published in 2011 by ASTD Press. After completing this book, Kim was inspired to write a tongue-in-cheek corporate mystery series. The first book, Murder on the 33rd Floor, was published in early 2012.

How to find your way in your own life

This is so different from the new age books that try to tackle the same dilemma - how to find your way in your own life. Some suggest you just `envision your desired future', say affirmations, and it will happen; some give you their experience and action steps. This book is delightful in that it explains the situation you are dealing with, shows you the complexity of the road ahead and asks you/guides you to come up with your own answers. What a relief not to have to twist yourself into someone else's scheme!
The book states that your choices are your path to greatness, and then does not make them for you; it shows you a clear path through questions and strategies that help you find your own way and develop your own reusable system. My favorite Axiom in the book: "Others can assist you in discovering your potential, your barriers, and the manifestations of your greatness, but they cannot make choices or take your journey for you." Thanks for a book that teaches you how to fish!

A Practical and Powerful Framework, Not to Be Missed

Authentic fulfillment comes from within, and this wonderful, concise book provides the essential tools you need to discover (or re-discover) your core sense of meaning and translate that into a clear and thoughtful path in the world of work. The NEWS model seems simple but shows a deep wisdom when working through the exercises in each chapter. There's a great balance of model, exercise and individual example that makes reading almost like talking with a good coach yourself. Both enjoyable and powerful, I'll be recommending this book to executives with whom I work.

He was killed in May 1970, abseiling from a sea stack off the north coast of Scotland. He was 38. It was when studying medicine at Aberdeen University that Tom first showed his talent as an extraordinary climber and started his long series of epic first ascents. He also took part in the four-man 1956 British expedition to climb the 28,800-foot Mustagh Tower, a mountain that many people regarded as unclimbable; they conquered it - Tom, John Hartog, Ian McNaught-Davies and the legendary Manchester plumber Joe Brown.

Great hilarious book on true mountaineering.

Tom is both a gifted climber and writer. If you like arm chair mountaineering books, and have read "the White spider" or any of the other North face of the Eiger climbing books you'll really love his take on that climb. Plus his climbers dictionary is just great. I second this opinion, buy this book!

Good stuff!!

Read both books and loved the characters and the plot. I am wondering about Cindy though and can't wait for number 3. Marcy and Rick are such a great couple and I have a feeling we will hear from that bitch, Cindy again. I would love for Marcy to get a hold of her again. and take care of her meddling ways!!! I'm looking forward to reading the next installment of the Rocking series.

Ok definitely has to be the fastest I have ever read two books back to back but I absolutely could not put this book down! I love Jax and Esme, they are the perfect couple!

With book one leaving you hanging about what happens with Esme, any reader will want to dive right into Rocking Scarlett and want to know what happens! Jax is such a sweet snd caring guy, especially for a rocker, and he definitely goes above and beyond in this book. He will definitely make any female reader swoon :-)

Amazing job on these first two books and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!!

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.
This series keeps getting better. Still told in multiple POVs this a fast paced drama filled book just like the first one. You can really tell the authors are getting better with their writing. This book picks right up after the cliffhanger at the end of the first and of course there is a lot of drama still going on with Cindy. Loved the epilogue to this amazing love story between Esme and Jackson. Looking forward to reading about Marcy next.

The book came packaged nicely and arrived on time. As a huge Hunger Games fan, I was extremely excited to receive this book. I've been completely obsessed with Hunger Games for several years, never miss any books or movies of it. The author’s imagination is amazing which draw me into the story so completely that it's hard to put the book down. Trust me, you won't be disappointed. All in all, this is a really good book which are a great gift for every Hunger Games fan!

An haunting series that will stick with you long after the last page is turned

The Hunger Games (Trilogy) is one of the most "unputdownable" books to enter the teen market in a long time. The cliffhangers at the end of each volume are so intense, you can't help but continue on. Knowing this in advance, I decided against reading the series last summer despite the fact that everyone was talking about it. I waited the extra year, and I'm glad I did--even a week was torture when it came to getting my grubby mitts on a copy of Mockingjay.

For the record, this isn't a series for everyone. You will be drained emotionally by its end. The Hunger Games is one of the grimmest dystopian worlds I've encountered in literature. A lot of characters die, and their deaths aren't pleasant. This series may not be for you. Then again, those who know me well would say it's not for me, either. I'm one of the most squeamish people you'll meet, and The Hunger Games more closesly resembles the movie Battle Royale than I thought it would when I started reading. I really enjoyed the series, though. There are scenes so poignant, they'll stick with me. Between this and Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, I've found that even squeamish ole me can still enjoy a disturbing book if it's thought-provoking and well-written.

Now that I've warned you about the contents, let's move on to the meat of this review. It's hard to go in-depth without giving a lot away, so I decided to focus on the trilogy as a whole instead of singling out Mockingjay and reviewing it on its own (though I do have a paragraph dedicated to it further down). A brief synopsis for the uninitiated:
The trilogy takes place in the future. The USA has been destroyed; in its place is Panem, which consists of thirteen districts and a Capitol city. Before the series begins, the districts revolt against the Capitol and are defeated; the thirteenth is completely obliterated. As retribution for their crimes, each district is now required to send a boy and girl, called tributes, to participate in the annual Hunger Games. The games are centered around survival; there can only be one winner (Luckily, most of the deaths occur off-page, so it makes it easier for the squeamish to read). The characters are very rich and detailed; some of their deaths hit incredibly hard and are forever memorable. In the second book, Catching Fire, there is a lot of unease in the districts, and a lot of anger when the year's Hunger Games take a twisted turn and past winners are forced to battle it out for survival. The final book, Mockingjay, consists of a full out rebellion; the districts are at war with the Capitol and it's do or die in a showdown so explosive, readers never see it coming.

Mockingjay has already received flack for not going in the direction fans anticipated. Most were caught up in a romantic triangle and hoped the final book would have a heavy emphasis on this theme with war as a backdrop and a happily-ever-after on the horizon. At the same time, Suzanne Collins has been setting up the revolution since Day One; the grim nature of the first two books should lead readers to believe that the finale will continue in a similar vein. Yes, people will die and it won't always be fair. That's life. I think the direction of Mockingjay was natural, especially in war-like situations. Characters will not be the same as they were earlier in life; war changes you. I would have been disappointed if Collins sidestepped harsh realities in order to soften the story. The tale she weaves is extreme, but it's also genuine. To me, by sticking to her guns and not copping out for something friendlier, she has created a memorable, haunting series that will stick with you long after you've finished reading it.

I'd also like to bring attention to the amazing book jacket art put together by designer Elizabeth B. Parisi and artist Tim O'Brien. At first glance, they don't mean much, but once you've read the serious, you notice just how ingenious they truly are. Before I read the series, I looked at the preview of the Mockingjay jacket and thought, "Wow, that's bright compared to the first two." Now I know better. Each book features a mockingjay, which is a hybrid mix of mockingbird and jabberjay (a Capitol creation used for spying on enemies during the first rebellion). The first book features the bird as the pin the main character, Katsa's, friend gives to her. The book is black and grim, giving it a desolate air. Every character in the Games feels hopeless, as though he/she won't survive. The second book's mockingbird is trapped inside a clock-like environment, which is the setting of the Hunger Games in this volume. The book is red for fire (both for its title, Catching Fire, and the literal associations with the element in the book), for anger (the fact that previous survivors of the Hunger Games must participate once more), and for bloodshed. Both books feature these circular objects that link to one another representing the way the districts and Capitol are linked. The final book features a mockingjay with its wings spread out. The linked circles are in broken pieces around it. The book is a vivid sky blue, the color of peace and hope. These covers have become favorites of mine; I adore the symbolism.

All in all, I'm personally glad I've read this series and wouldn't change a thing. I'm glad I didn't sidestep it due to its violent nature and extreme situations. This trilogy is one I'll read again to delve into the intricate layers I know Collins has laid out for us. Collins is a master at capturing a society at war and showing the horrors that come when a corrupt government is in control.

Engaging. Brutal, but engaging!

Wow. I was barely able to put this book down for a second after the first few pages got me completely hooked. Suzanne Collins narrative here has an immediacy to it that, when combined with the very dramatic life-or-death plot, is incredibly compelling. It's entertaining, and incredibly disturbing all at once. If this was merely a good read, I would have given it 4 stars, but they say great art leaves you changed after you experience it... and this book definitely did that. Suzanne Collins has, with one amazing work, propelled herself onto my top shelf.

Parents, caveat emptor! The storyline is brutal. Even though the writing is geared for young adults, the main characters are teenagers, there's very little physical romance, and the actual violence would probably count as PG-13 nowadays... it's probably one of the most terrifying books I've read in a very long time! Right up there with George R.R. Martin, if not more so. Remember what we learned from Jaws: you don't actually need to SEE the shark in order for it to be terrifying. Sometimes not seeing the shark is even worse.

The story is basically about a teenager who is forced to compete in a 24-man-enter-1-man-leaves event. I don't want to spoil it by saying any more, but if you liked The Running Man, you'll definitely like this. And if you're young enough that you don't remember The Running Man, nor did you get the Thunderdome reference, then I'm just way too old. But take an old fogey's advice and read this book.

Great Desk Reference

This book covers the wide spectrum of privacy issues facing businesses today...from laws and regulations to technology to business policies, procedures and other topics. The variety of writers for the many sections provides a great breadth of viewpoints, advice, knowledge, experience and interpretation of many privacy issues and how to address them within an organization.
I have used this often for addressing privacy compliance and awareness issues within my organization. I look forward to getting the next edition when it becomes available!

Solid multi-audience resource, some gaps

This book covers a lot of ground, with information that will be of interest to IT security, HR and privacy managers (in some large companies security and privacy are combined into a single function), internal auditors, and database, systems and network administrators.
The first section, Business Organization Issues, covers policies for a number of functional areas, auditing, e-commerce issues, and related concerns at the administrative level. Technology is also addressed as a high-level, as are topical concerns such as identity theft and internet activities.
Section two covers the full range of applicable tools and related technologies, including encryption/cryptography, cookies and profiling, monitoring and content filtering, wireless communications and data mining.
In the final section US and international laws and issues are covered at a high level, but sufficiently detailed to provide the salient issues. Although there are some minor gaps in this section, it was up-to-date when it was published, and the gaps can be addressed through extrapolation and other publications. The most notable gap is the absence of Sarbanes-Oxley Act Section 404 requirements related to data access and manipulation, and other assurance measures. That said, the material in this book is consistent with SOA, and the information and advice map nicely to it if you cross reference requirements to business organization issues, and tools and technologies sections of this book.
