It's time to be set free. It's time to overcome sin through the power of God. It's time to overcome emptiness and loneliness through the presence of Jesus. And it's time to seek God and find the purpose that He put you here to accomplish. You are on this earth for a reason, and when you know what that reason is, you cannot help but do great things in the kingdom of God.

Decent

Troy is a guy, I think, who really needed to write his story. It reads like he undertook this writing to work through some of these themes himself, to try to figure out where his story is going or where it's been or where it is right now. I have a certain appreciation for people who do this, and I commend them for diving into their own mess, to use this author's word, to try to make sense of it all. As a reader, however, I can only really pick up on this personal struggle; he doesn't give enough meaningful details for me to understand what's happening in his story as it's unfolding, so it's difficult for me to buy into his conclusions along the way. He stays on the surface of his own story, knowing the details himself but not sharing them with readers, but then dives wholly into the testimony of God, and it's just a little disconnected. But I trust, at least I think, that the process of writing this book was meaningful for him, and I'm grateful for him sharing what he has. We should all go through our stories in such a way.

About the Author
Dr. Walter Kaiser, Jr. (Ph.D., Brandeis), served as professor of Old Testament and Semitic Languages and in academic administration at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School before joining the faculty of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. As president of Gordon-Conwell, he maintains his interest in theological education. He has written numerous books, including the popular Toward an Old Testament Theology.

God's promise-plan

Based on lectures give in 1988, this work summarizes Kaiser's approach to the Old Testament. Unlike other scholars, Kaiser believes that the Old Testament has a unifying theme and that the theme is--what he terms--God's promise-plan. The Old (and New) Testament records the progress of this promise-plan, first hinted at to Eve, but explicitly promised to Abraham and David. Kaiser relates all portions of the Old Testament to this promise-plan, although the wisdom literature is somewhat weakly tied into it via the concept of "the fear of the Lord." Kaiser is correct in searching for unifying themes in the scriptures and he clearly desires that these themes develop naturally from the text rather than be forced upon it from the outside. His love for the scriptures and desire to take them seriously is evident throughout.

Dr. John F. Walvoord succeeded Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer as President of Dallas Theological Seminary after being associated with Dr. Chafer in teaching and administration for many years. Since1986, Dr. Walvoord has served as Chancellor of the seminary. He is the author of numerous books, including The Church in Prophecy, Israel in Prophecy, The Nations in Prophecy, The Holy Spirit, and The Millennial Kingdom.

Dr. Lewis Sperry Chafer, founder and first president of Dallas Theological Seminary until his death in 1952, was known internationally as a Bible teacher and lecturer. About the Author
John F. Walvoord was president of Dallas Theological Seminary and author of numerous books on eschatology and theology. He held the A.M. degree from Texas Christian University in philosophy and the ThD degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in Systematic Theology.

As the founder and first president of the Dallas Theological Seminary, the late Dr. Chafer served as Professor of Systematic Theology since its beginning in 1924, and was editor of Bibliotheca Sacra from 1940 to the time of his death in 1952.

An excellence resource to study the Bible

We've used this book since 1982 for individual studies and Bible study groups. It's an excellent resource for studying the Bible. It's just as valuable for new Christians as it is helpful for mature believers. The book contains 52 vital doctrines of the Bible, the cardinal doctrines that are essential for the understanding of Christianity and a Christian's growth. It features chapters on the "Bible," "God the Son," "God the Trinity," "God the Holy Spirit," "Satan," "Man," "The Church," "The Second Coming of Christ," and so much more. At the end of each chapter it has a short test which will be very helpful in Bible study groups as well as for individual studies. Everything is explained in an easy-to-understand format and it also discusses various viewpoints of a certain doctrine. This book is also helpful as a quick reference guide. We highly recommend this book!

Fabio M. Soares

Fabio M. Soares is currently a PhD candidate at the Federal University of Para (Universidade Federal do Para - UFPA), in northern Brazil. He is very passionate about technology in almost all fields, and designs neural network solutions since 2004 and has applied this technique in several fields like telecommunications, industrial process control and modeling, hydroelectric power generation, financial applications, retail customer analysis and so on. His research topics cover supervised learning for data-driven modeling. As of 2017, he is currently carrying on research projects with chemical process modeling and control in the aluminum smelting and ferronickel processing industries, and has worked as a lecturer teaching subjects involving computer programming and artificial intelligence paradigms. As an active researcher, he has also a number of articles published in English language in many conferences and journals, including four book chapters.

Alan M. F. Souza

Alan M. F. Souza is computer engineer from Instituto de Estudos Superiores da Amazonia (IESAM). He holds a post-graduate degree in project management software and a master's degree in industrial processes (applied computing) from Universidade Federal do Para (UFPA). He has been working with neural networks since 2009 and has worked with Brazilian IT companies developing in Java, PHP, SQL, and other programming languages since 2006. He is passionate about programming and computational intelligence. Currently, he is a professor at Universidade da Amazonia (UNAMA) and a PhD candidate at UFPA.

HUGELY frustrating!!

Purchased the paper version...and omigosh, this thing is mind-numbingly frustrating!!

Most significantly, this is NOT a learn-by-doing book. Snippets of code are presented in the book, so you're not entering the stuff yourself -- just compiling what they've done. Speaking of which...be SURE to get the code from github, NOT via the link emailed from the publisher's web site, because THAT version of the code isn't even close to reflecting what's in the text. (Did I mention frustrating?)

Oh, you want an explanation of the code? No problem! The book promises (page 19) that "In appendix C, we present the reader the full documentation of the classes along with their UML class and package diagrams that will surely help as a reference for the book." EXCEPT that (1) appendix C does not appear in the book, and (2) the Preface describes the chapters and appendices, noting that the Appendices must be downloaded as a PDF...except that (a) appendix C isn't even mentioned here, and (b) not surprisingly, it is NOT part of the downloaded PDF. (Be careful with the really long name that's given -- no shortened URL here! -- as the 'W' must be lowercase.)

Taken together, not only was this book purchase a waste of both time and money, but there's not a chance I'll ever purchase another book from this publisher, who seems heck-bent on saving paper rather than, you know, teaching.

Dr. Rick Yohn is the senior pastor Fellowship Community Church, Centennial, Colorado. He is an effective communicator through writing, preaching, and teaching. His reputation as an expositor of the Scriptures has placed him in great demand as a speaker at family and Bible conferences, as well as college and seminary campuses. Both his writing and speaking styles are Biblical, easy to understand, and very practical. Dr. Howard G. Excellent Book- Not Outdated

This is a surprisingly useful book. Although it was written in the 1970's, it's really not outdated at all. Essentially, it is a book that uses Christian principles to suggest how to regain control in several aspects of your life: overeating, drinking, overspending, excessive worrying, pride, lust, gossip, succumbing to peer pressure, time management, and general temptation. It's not too fire and brimstone, but rather quotes biblical passages in order to better help you understand if something is wrong and how to potentially fix it. Easy to read as well.

Without a doubt, this is the best book in the industry on bioremediation engineering. It is well-written and has plenty of examples to impress the most technically astute environmental engineer or a student that is just starting to explore this topic. Dr. Cookson has developed a book that is relevant to design engineers, project managers and anyone involved in a bioremediation project. BRAVO!!

We used this book as our main text for a graudate level Bioremediation Course. I personally found the book very well structured and easy to understand. The appendix has a wealth of info as well. GREAT BOOK!!!
